![]() ![]() The greatness of Preon lies in its ability to quickly burst dangerous bosses.īy my count, your list of bad item characteristics covers about a quarter of whites and maybe a third of greens, and isn't really relevant to more items = more consistent build. And you're relying on much worse luck than 50/50. There are only 4 items better or equal to a Preon - Missile Launcher, Tesla Coil, Sawmerang and Ocular HUD. I almost always get something better than a Preon by stage 4. I can safely farm the whole of 4th and 5th level and be on my second loop by around 28 minutes into the game, give or take. At this point in the game I can still easily dispatch enemies with my base skills alone, but the items I got on the way obviously help out in that regard. On average I can reach the 4th level by 12:00 minutes (11:30 - 12:30), with 9-10 levels, 3-4 greens, 8-10 whites, just starting Very Hard difficulty (including the difficulty spike after the teleport). They are significantly less debilitating the lower your difficulty is. Don't forget the difficulty spikes after teleporting. There's a lot of downtime and waiting around for spawns. Enemy spawns are too spaced out and provide little money, wasting your time and increasing difficulty. Require massive stacking to be effective įarming the first three loops is also incredibly inefficient. If they were, farming more items would mean you'd get significantly stronger faster, sure. That would be true if most items in RoR2 were good. I personally find following his advice to the letter doesn't work as well in multiplayer monsoon for that reason. If your goal is not singleplayer monsoon god runs, then you may/will find other things work for you then doing exactly as woolie does. I wouldn't say I follow every little thing Woolie says, and no one should unless they happen to play exactly like him, but a great takeaway from his content for me is thinking about why certain parts of his play style works and why he might value some items/abilities over others. Every item that doesn't really benefit you most of the time is wasted time farming as the difficulty scales without you scaling. As someone who plays a lot of FTL and Into the Breach, minimizing risk is a huge factor in those games, and I only really thought about it after Woolie brought it up that relying on items is one of the biggest risks available to the player. That's the biggest realization I've had after watching one of his recent uncut monsoon runs. ![]()
